e-Heli-BabyThe reproduction of the Heli-Baby has shown a big resonance and often I was asked if it is possible to convert to an electric drive. So I ckecked all dimensions of frame and mechanic and found that it is not too difficlult to adapt an electric motor in the frame, but the free shaft length should be at least 45 mm, so the front belt pulley can also mounted on this. The main problem with the original version is the best placement of the battery. Of course this must be positioned directly as far to the front end as possible (under the pilots seat). To realize that and make a battery change comfortable, I have widened the frame in the lower area to 60 mm. Also the tailboom was lightened as much as possible. During the next weeks I will test this configuration and especially the governor items of motor/controller combination during final landing. |
